How Big is Too Big?

Have wheel sizes gone too far? Are 26s and 28s over-the-top? What about 30s? Where is it going to stop? Is this never-ending race to bigger and bigger sizes a good or a bad thing?

I think it's just a thing. Depending on the ride, it can either look tight or silly. It depends on what kind of look you want the vehicle to have.

Big rims on a body dropped mini truck can be impressive. That same rim on a fullsize SUV may be "so what."

Personally, I roll stock rims right now and don't care what anyone thinks. I don't need their approval.

Rims might complete a ride, but they don't MAKE a ride.

I guess another problem with rims is that they make the ride stand out a lot more - which is a good thing I know. BUT in some circumstances, esp. for daily drivers that live in public parking lots, standing out might not be what you're looking for. And they stand out more to cops.

I have a '95 S-10 that I would like to drop a couple of inches, and a set of 15" Z28 wheels to put on it. I don't mind 17 or 18 inches, but any bigger than that doesn't look right to me.

I think that anything over 24's is getting excessive.  Dont get me wrong i love pimped out h2's and escalades rollin on huge rims, but enough is enough.  How much can somewhat actually spend on rims??  Its rediculous.  I think a real truck builder picks parts that gel nicely together.  Nothing that is gonna clash, or just going and buying the most expensive parts and slappin them on your truck.  Have some style boys.

I agree with Yukon. Anything beyond 24 is simply for the "showoff" factor. I'm actually more of a fan of conservative plus-sizing, but then again, I'm all about the performance and could care less about the bling. I guess it's all about what your priorities are.

I guess part of the sport truck scene is showing off, but I agree with Ed, and today's trend is kind of a less is more look.  Look at Dale JR's chev.  That is one classy ride.  He didnt just pick the most expensive parts out of a truck mag, and we all know he can afford them, he built a truck with simple looking, but elegant alterations that sets his ride of just right.  I love the race style fuel door, too bad it is non-functional.

Now i am just ranting about non-functional parts but what the heck, this is Truckin' right?  My biggest turn off of a truck is when it has Lund stick on hood scoops.  GROSS!!!  Sorry fellas, if you have a nice looking truck, and you stick this plastic garbage on your hood your truck loses all of its style in my books.  If you can afford rims, a lowering kit, and a bumpin system, you can afford a real ram air or cowl induction hood.

I love the huge rim look but maybe that is just because I am in the target demorgaphic for them. Our 07 Expedition came with stock 20's and I think on a rig that size they look way too small I would like to throw some 26's on it and I would go up to a 28 if it fit properly without too much fabrication needing to be done.
