It's looking like half-ton diesels are coming. Would you buy a half-ton diesel over a 3/4 or 1-ton, or would you still go for the big bruisers? More importantly, if a diesel option were offered in a half-ton, would you buy it over the gasoline model? How much would you be willing to pay, and how much power would you want it to have?

Sure, why not? As long as they're not insanely expensive. I could totally go for a regular-cab, short-bed half-ton turbodiesel. Just the thought of 500+ lb./ft. of torque in a half-ton gets me excited!

If you are using your truck for towing there is nothing like the torque of a diesel! If my needs extended to really NEEDING a full size pickup I would always go the diesel route. It suits the character and strengths of the full size truck platform, no matter what the manufacturer. I agree with truckmod75, at least 500lb. feet of torque to make it worth my while. After that, price schmice! After a test drive I would be so torque drunk I would sign anything!
