Well, I like the fact the newer model is just a more substantial vehicle all the way around, including under the hood. 600 extra pounds is a little much, but it'll probably do well. I'd probably be more inclined to buy the new one than I would have the old one, but still probably wouldn't be at the top of my shopping list either way.

I really liked to old xB just for the fact that it was so simple. If we truly only bought cars based on our needs (and rarely do we do that ENTIRELY...) I am sure I would be driving one now. I remember the son of a friend of mine had one and being inside it just reminded me of the dorm room of a freshman in college. Just a great space for relaxing and talking. Perfect for teenagers. Remember that time when your car was really the only private space you could escape to with your friends? The Scion felt like that space to me. Packaging-wise it felt like Toyota had harnessed some distortion of the space-time continuum in regards to stuffing that much room into a little box. The new one has more power and space, but to my eyes, seems to just have gained more complexity to the detriment of the purity of the original. Whatever chic cachet the first one had is definitely not present in the new one. It looks a bit like the original was put in a microwave on high and melted a bit around the edges.

It's a car, not a truck in my book, so not worth talking about on a truck forum.

It's a car in my book as well, not considered a truck just like that stupid Honda Ridgeline shouldn't be considered a true truck either.
I've never liked the XB's, one reason they are a Toyota "Scion" product, and the other is they look like a box. I've never really understood why anyone would think they even look good or buy one. But that's just my opinion on them.

Yeah, the new xB is pretty chunky. The old one was kind of cool, but hopelessly gutless. I think I'd probably be more likely to buy the new one than the old one, but neither one of them really blows my kilt up.
