Silverado - Class leader?

The '09 Ram 1500 looks nice. I personally like the styling of it better than the '09 F-150. Not sure what I think of the coil rear-end. As far as half-tonners go, I think the Ford's the way to go if you want a workhorse, but then again, if you REALLY wanted a workhorse, you'd probably get a 3/4 or 1-ton.  

AH you can keep your FORD and DODGE CRAPPY trucks and I'll keep the Real MANS TRUCK THE GMC or CHEVY TRUCKS!

He owns a regal...... I guess that could be considered a truck if he chopped the roof off and made into like an elcamino replaca.... i shouldnt give him any ideas.

I am employed by a GM dealership as a tech and am a big GM fan.  although I own a ford and a dodge. while disk brakes look better, stop better,  and are easier to maintain,  the rotors on GM especially the rear ones on trucks get rusted quickly and need maintained more often.  if it is not your daily driver - they will get so rusted they will pulsate and get pitts in them. requiring a cut of the rotors almost as often as you change your oil. I'm not sure of how other brands rotors hold up,  but Im in the process of buying a 08 Silverado or Sierra - undecided at this time.  but I had to make sure it doesn't have rear rotors so that I didn't have those problems.  and I believe these problems are why GM went back to rear drums with this new bodystyle truck.  that said I wouldn't even consider buying any other brand of truck right now.  these new trucks from GM are improved in every aspect over the old ones they replace.  you would be hard pressed to find a problem anywhere.  

Yeah, I've actually heard from a lot of guys that have experience working on and driving pickups that rear drums are better than discs on trucks in a lot of ways, from a maintenance standpoint.

I guess it's just the conventional wisdom and marketing that disc brakes are superior to drums is why a lot of people were disappointed when GM went back to rear drums for most of the half-ton Silverados.

But if you really want discs, I know the top-line half-tons and all the 3/4-tons have rear discs, as far as I know.
