According to reports, Bob Lutz said a version of the newly-release VE Holden Ute may come to the U.S. but probably not as a Chevrolet, as many expected. Some have speculated it will be a Pontiac derivative of the G8, while others think it could be a revival of the GMC Sprint/Caballero from the '70s and '80s. What do you guys think? Do you think it'll come over at all?

My bet is on them turning it into a Saturn. Problem is, that would have been a good idea in 1995 when Saturn was still not so stigmatized as, oh, how shall I put it? I guess "dorky" is as good a term as any. I think it is all the fault of the ION. One of the worst small american cars ever made, barring the Cadillac Cimarron. Oh, heaven help us if they turn it into Pontiac. I won't go into what I think of that brand. My opinion for GM as per the brand problems is a tad radical. Here is what I would do.
I would get rid of Pontiac and Saturn and make Buick an Asia only near luxury brand (as apparently they are very prestigious there). I would keep Chevy, GMC and Cadillac and introduce an entirely new sporty, vaguely european near luxury brand with a new name. It can't be that hard. Toyota has introduced Scion and Lexus in the recent past and people have responded positively. My point is, these brands have too much baggage for a lot of people to want to buy a vehicle from them. No matter how good the car (or mini truck in this case) may be.

I think it should be a GMC, if it's not going to be a Chevy. I mean, it still is kind of a truck, as much if not more so than the Acadia, anyway, and Chevy doesn't need any help with its trucks, just its cars. I think it would be pretty cool, but admittedly, probably a small market.
