Does anybody know the RPM redline for the 6.8l V10? My dealer says "Don't worry; it'll shut off if the revs get to high!" The book says "Don't ever exceed the redline", but there is no redline on the tach. The Ford web site has no specifics. I don't mind the engine shutting off, but I'd like to know when I'm getting close.

I used to be a Ford Service advisor and that redline is at 5200rpm. I don't know why Ford doesn't put a redline on the tach for that model. Your dealer is "sort of" right, the engine will cut off fuel delivery when you reach the redline, but the engine doesn't "shut off." That would be scary.

Don't let the overhead cams and multiple valves fool you. The 6.8 is no revver. I think 5,500 is the redline for all intents & purposes.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to know the engine won't just "shut off".
