Do you guys agree or disagree with the choice of the Toyota Tundra as Truckin's Truck of the Year and the Dodge Durango as SUV of the Year? Who do you think should have won it?

Personally i would of said that truck of the year should go to something that isnt as ugly its got great stuff but in my opinon i would have given it to the titan or ram. And suv of the year to the new cherokee.

Yeah. I was actually there for the testing & evaluation, and personally, the Grand diesel was my favorite. I was not really that impressed by the Durango at all, but that's just me.

THE DURANGO!? That is the best SUV out there? Huh? Maybe three years ago when the design was new. I can see the Tundra being Truck of the Year, just for the significance of the all new design. No matter what you think of it, the Tundra is the most newsworty industry wise.
But the Durango? I am still reeling from the idea of that. I think they were intoxicated by the HEMI power of the HEMI engine.

It didn't even have the Hemi! It was the flex-fuel 4.7. It had OK power, but hardly mind-blowing.

I agree with the Tundra just cause its so new and Toyota put a boatload of money to be a contender. But the Durango without hemi power? What were guys thinking? Its one of the ugliest things I have seen since the new design of the Dakota. I used to be a big Dodge fan but when the redesigned the Durango and Dakota I lost my love. And I think the 09 Ram looks bad too. What is Dodge thinking? The interior of the new Ram is so Ford like it makes me wonder if they are working together behind closed doors.

I actually like the styling of the '09 Ram from what I've seen so far, inside and out. If you watch the videos on the Truck of the Year criteria & testing, you'll see there was pretty specific selection criteria which actually favored the Tundra, since it was the most "new" model. Most of the other models in the competition were just new or revised trim packages.
In terms of the Durango, the main new thing on it was the Flex-Fuel 4.7. I expect the new Ram to be a strong contender in next year's testing.
