GM has announced that it is going to start selling the Holden ute mini truck here in the U.S. as a Pontiac. While I don't quite see the logic of badging it a Pontiac, would you buy this truck? Looks to me like a hella (sorry, I am from Northern California) cool successor to the El Camino et al.

Do you think it should be a Chevy, a GMC or a Pontiac? If you think it should be a Saturn, please take a moment to slap yourself. Here is a photo.

first off i think it's the price tag that is in question
if it's some unreal amount of bucks i don't see it flying
.. then again i thought the same about the HHR
it don't look like a chevy to me but if they need a name
pontiac will do i suppose
(kind of reminds me of a recent impala with the back end cut off though)
it really is... a VAN thing!

It's hard to tell. It's definitely something different. I mean, it's not completely original, since the Ford Ranchero and El Camino originally came out in the late '50s. But it's been a good 20 years since anything like that has really been offered.

And I don't really count the SSR. It was overweight, (initially) underpowered, and WAY over-priced. It couldn't decide if it was a street rod or a truck, and it didn't do either very well.

I love it, that's a Holden SS V. One of the coolest trucks ever. As for badging on an american one, I'd go with the Elky, and a Caballero, no pontiac. Also this could meen if GM is bringing the Elky back, Ford is going to have to get the Australian Falcon Ute up here. And maybe Dodge could make a Cummins Powered Rampage or something.....

First shame on you even saying saturn. Keep it a pontiac. They have the momentum in with the sports car already. Do you know what the power plant will be?

Kaboom, probably the 3.6 V6 standard (260 horse) and the 6.0L L76 V-8 (362 hp/391 lb./ft.) at least to start with.
