Like many kids who grew up before the invention of the minivan and SUV, my mom drove a number of station wagons. I have always loved these old monsters, with their huge V8s and in my case, taped on wood panelling along the sides. Gotta have the wood panelling.

I was reminded of this today when I saw a late sixties Chevelle SS wagon on the freeway with racing stripes. I want one! Even though my family always went the Buick route, I can appreciate any old school wagon. Here is a site you might enjoy to relive your ride as a kid...

Yep. 1983 Buick Regal. Sky Blue with woodgrain on the sides. Stylin', I tell you! And the powerplant was the powerhouse 2-bbl 3.8L V6, with a rousing 110 horsepower. Man, that thing was a fireball! (not). We actually still have it. It's back in Tennessee with my aunt. I'd love to either drop a 383 stroker in it, or do a GNX conversion on it with a turbo V6.

HEY esanchez, The reason I fear my truck breaking down, IS because I still get FLASH-BACK when I had to drive my DAD'S AMC HORNET station wagon. Glad my girlfriend who is my wife now, was not into guys that have MONEY and NICE CARS.

Man, I was bummed when they quit making the Olds Vista Cruiser. I got all excited when they briefly brought back the Custom Cruiser (you know, the futuristic shamu-looking wagons) only to kill them off a few years later. They never offered that wagon with the LT1, but you could get an LT1 Caprice Wagon or Buick Roadmaster for like 2 years. One of those laid out on 22s looks sweet. I'm still mad that Dodge is killing the Magnum, and that Pontiac isn't going to have a G8 wagon.

The original one from the '50s? Heck yeah! That thing was sweet. Or are you talking about the 2-door conversion of the Caprice Wagon? Seen those. Pretty cool. Got a link?

Whoa! That's pretty rare. Got a picture or link? Never heard of that one. Yeah, I remember wagons being the thing for towing before SUVs.

no I don't have a pic  wish I  had a scaner. i have tryed looking it up on other website s and I can't find a pic. the car looks like the 77 without the folding headlamps, mine had round head lamps.

also picture this it was powder blue with fake wood panel down the side and the car was 22' from front to back, the speedo went to 140 and I had that peg many times man did that thing fly. I raced a 1989 mustang  back in the day when they where new and smoked it.
