Hello All ! I HAVE A COUPLE QUESTION THAT I'M TRYING TO GET ANSWERED IF ANYONE CAN..>>> IF I DECIDE TO SWAP THE 4.8 FOR THE 6.0 WHAT ALL DO I NEED AND WHAT IS THIS ABOUT THE 8th DIGIT IN THE VIN MEAN AND DOES IT REALLY MATTER??? THANXX

The 4.8 and 6.0 should have the same basic outer dimensions. I don't know about the 8th digit in the VIN. But I've seen trucks that originally had the 4.8 that had the 6.0 swapped into it, so I know it's possible.

Just supercharge your 4.8 and be done with it..

Actually, that's not a bad idea. I've driven some supercharged 4.8s, and they really hustle. Definitely something I'd consider.

Hi there are two important pieces of info found in the vin # the engine code and the model cod counting from the left the engine code letter designation is the 8th character and the model year is the 10th to things you should konow when doing an engine swap so you get the right parts and engine for that year

Check you local laws, changing to a different engine can be a super duper no no. We dont have inspections here but alot of places ***

As far as I know, as long as the engine you're swapping in is the same model year or newer of the vehicle, then you should be OK. But an older engine into a newer car is a major no-no, at least here in CA. Besides which, it can be a nightmare trying to make all the electronics get along.
