Have any of you guys started wrenching on your ride to figure out you were way over your head, and had your truck scattered in pieces all over the garage floor? How did you get yourself out of it? We want to hear all the gory details! Last-minute tool runs, part returns, phone calls, warm beer & cold pizza, 3 a.m. panic attacks, etc.

I've got some stories, I'll tell you about last night though. So some buddies and I were out wrenching on my '94 1500, our goal for the night was to accomplish the task of getting the drive shaft in. Now what I forgot after I had got my tranny in was that I should have changed the tail end of the Olds 400 to a Chevy 400...I found that one out after we cut up my perfectly good chevy drive shaft, knocked out 4 Heineken Minin Kegs, and then called my dad who happened to be at home looking at the tail housing for my tranny wondering why it was on his work bench...Dad eventually brought down the tail end of my tranny. Then I made a call to my uncle who happened to have a drive shaft. We got it all together took it out for a spin, I'm searching now for a set of tires and a Ford 9 Inch with Posi. God I love my truck.

The worst thing in my Professional carrier was one time we had a guy on a Maxima engine overhaul. He had everything layed out in order, well he got mad and quit. On his way out, he decided to dump everything out the back door!!!! What a time i had getting that thing back together....

I have a similar story. I was working at a BMW shop for a few months, and the owner fired one of his mechanics. Out of anger, revenge, whatever...the guy ended up dumping a bunch of nuts & bolts into the intake manifold of a 1st-gen M3 that was being worked on.

I thought the guy was a total dick for doing that, but a few months later, when the owner fired me for an ex-con that just got out of prison, I figured out who the real dick was.
