What do you guys think we should do collectively and individually about fuel prices, energy dependency, alternative fuels, etc? How bad do you think it's going to get before it gets better?
I know there are some members of this forum from Europe & elsewhere that are already used to dealing with high fuel prices. How do you cope?

Fast-track R&D into cellulosic ethanol. Pull the plug on corn ethanol subsidies. Get clean diesels on the market in large numbers. And most importantly, increase distribution of alt. fuels so people can actually fill their tanks with them instead of just reading about them!

Did you know it is possible to run your car on water on a totally safe and simple way? This technology has been available for more than 100 years, but many times big oil companies and laboratories have tried to hide and make it seem impossible.
There is one guy that has been over 10 years researching and putting into practice what he has learn in hundreds of manuals, book and reports secretly obtained. He has called this system “water for gas technology”. The method recommend for powering your car with water will save you cost of fuel and will allow you to make your own low-cost hybrid car that will run on water and gas, saving you huge costs you would have spent using only gas.
In other words, there is a very easy to make - Hydrogen-On-Demand system where you are able to run your car on Hydrogen when you need it.

Congress needs to step in and do something but they wont. They only react. Most of the members of congress have been there so long that their pockets are padded by the oil companies. So I think they have become part of the problem and no help to the long term solution. All the oil companies have experiecened record profits but still say that the refineries are maxx or need repair. Just build a couple of refineries and watch the prices come back down. If this is country in a reccession wouldnt you think that the prices would be stable? and not go up 50 cents in three weeks?

Awesome addition. I really got some knowledge about it. You can send me a PM if you have other info or just post it here as a reply. Thanks.

Yeah, but all the NIMBYs everywhere don't want a refinery built in their neighborhood. That, and the lefties in Congress don't want any drilling in ANWR or off the coast.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely think we should be looking at alternative fuel sources, but there are some things we could do now that we're not. Just my $0.02.

I don't know if anyone has looked on this website for an alternative fuel for trucks - hhowater4gas.com - this was announced on National Radio Show coast to coast am. It sounded plausible. They boast a 50% improvement on MPG using hydrogen from water as a supplement to fuel. I'd like to know any truckers who have tried this.

Yep. I've seen it. I'm not saying it doesn't or won't work, but I don't know how feasible it is as a large-scale solution, because electrolysis is a net energy-loser (i.e. it takes more energy to make it work than the process yields.) But hey, as long as water is cheaper than gas, it's worth a try.

I think I just read somewhere that they're predicting the '09 Ram with the 5.7 Hemi is supposed to get 23 mpg on the highway. That's darn good for 380 hp, if true!

I think Truckin Should try out on of those water for gas kits. Run it for a few months. See how it does. They should get 2 identical trucks install the kit in one and take them on a cross country tour. Let's get some real information about this technology. THen they can do an article about the results and let us all know just how well it worked or did not work.
Just my $0.02!

I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't put that on a brand-new car. I'd try it out on a beater that's a few years old, so if it goes kaput, it's like, "Oh well, it was fun while it lasted." That's just MY $0.02 worth.
