78 silverado shortbed

This is my second 78 silverado and its a shortbed. The other is a longbed and its lifted 3 inchs. I wanted a 2WD so I could lower it and have the best of both worlds but I came across this 4WD shortbed that I couldn't pass up. so my questions are has anyone tried lowering a 4WD 73-87 Chevy? And if you have what is the best way to do it lowering shackles, an axle flip kit, or just De-arching the front leaf springs as low as they will go? Hope to hear from you.Gary
