Gas keeps going up. New truck sales are down. Would you ever sell your truck for a car if fuel prices get to a certain point, or would you keep it in the garage and get a car for your commuter, and save it for the weekends?

NO! was new when I got it, from day one I knew what I wanted to do and how I wanted it to look, waited till the warrant went out(my truck from todays date has 6,023 miles on it)and stated working on my dream
I don't drive it everyday(have a DD and work alot) Its never been driven in the rain its my weekend toy.
I have the truck paid off and I do my mods as I can save up for them.
If gas goes up double I will just drive it less, but when I have her out its all fun
I'm just a truck guy, did the 4x4 thing and so on, but always wanted a fast and car like driving full size truck, and I'm getting there
sorry for the long

I can't wait until they start offering turbodiesels in the smaller trucks. Yeah, I know the price-per-gallon is outrageous, but if they're getting 30+ mpg, you're still coming out ahead. I think that would make a lot of sense for people that really want a truck, but want something relatively fuel-efficient.

Hey Eamonn, are you happy that Ken Livingstone got the boot as London's Mayor? What do you think of the new guy?

hell's no. i had a car ('03 infinti g35) for about three months. and hated driving it. went from a '97 dodge 1500 to the tiny car back to a '04 dodge 1500.
if prices keep going up i'll be riding the Harley a lot more. 32 MPG is much better than 13.9 MPG.

Thats a big hell no My first ride was a truck when I turned 16, I'm on my third truck now, and my last ride will be a truck. I totaled the first two, with no seatbelt, and walked away without a scratch. The second wreck was a double rollover in an '02 Z-71, yet I had no frame damage and didn't even break any glass. I don't feel safe in anything other than a truck.

A commuter car is not a bad idea. But I can not trade my truck. You can do so much more with a truck then any car, anyday.

LOL @ "blue" maybe you should consider slowing down... LOL And actually test have shown trucks are not as safe as many cars. However I must say that when I got rear ended years ago in my '80 F-100 the guys car was totaled - flatbed territory - while my truck suffered a bent bumper and he knocked my spare tire out from under the bed.
I wish I'd had a can of spray paint. I could have just touched up my bumper at the scene and told the guy not to worry about it, as his rice rocket sat there in a puddle of anti-freeze and oil... LOL

Oh, yeah - I would not trade my truck for a car. However I only drive my truck when I have "truck things" to do. When I have to carry something large or tow something. I am a real estate investor and do a lot of construction rehabbing so I need a full size truck that I can carry drywall and plywood flat. But I also have two cars. One is a Mistsubishi Lancer (32mpg) the other a Mercedes. The Lancer is my everyday car. The Benz is for longer trips and impressing valets... LOL
