last night i took my silverado to Irwindale Speedway for an 1/8th mile drag, i ran a 10.02 with a .614 rt, i have the 5.3 crewcab with the only mods being an exhaust and superchips, has anyone else ran their truck on a 1/8 or 1/4 mile track? just curious to see how i match up to other trucks
also my buddy raced his truck, he has an 07 duramax crew cab, the last run of the night he launched in 4wd and snapped one of his tie rods, it was not a pretty sight, but has anyone had that problem at all because i know thats very common for silverados since they are weak part

Sounds like a real good run for you, but not your buddy. I've never run mine on a track.

probably because you dont have many idiotic people like my friend launching their truck in 4wd to drag race with a duramax, not to mention the extra torque and horsepower he added along with efi live and exhaust

i work in an aftermarket shop and ive replaced many of those inner tie rod ends not from breaking but from becoming loose and causing tire wear

At first I thought you said 10 seconds for the quarter-mile! I was gonna say, DANG, THAT'S ONE FAST TRUCK!

Naw, that's not too shabby at all. Honestly, you can only take it so far before it's no longer really practical as a daily driver. I've seen 10-second trucks, but they're full-on race trucks with cages, fire extinguishers, 5-point harnesses, etc.
I think at most tracks and racing events, if you go below a 13 or 12-second ET for the quarter, they require a cage and that the driver wear a helmet. There are plenty of parts for the Gen III and Gen IV V8s. You should have plenty of options.
