I own a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd with a 3.7 V6 & 5 speed manual gearbox. I want to swap the engine out with a V8 5.7 Hemi. would the v6 manual gearbox fit on the v8 5.7 hemi? and What else do I need to accomplish the swap? thank you for your help.
You might have to sacrifice the stick-shift for the Hemi. In all the 1500s, the Hemi was auto-only. I think a Hemi/manual combo was offered on some of the 2500-3500 models, but not the half-tons. I think the stick offered with the V6 and the 4.7 V8s doesn't have the torque capacity to handle the Hemi, from what I've heard. I'm not an expert on Mopars, so I couldn't tell you much more than that. Hopefully someone else can give you a little more detail.
That is correct. The 3.7 trans will not handle the horsepower or the torque of the hemi. However, the trans from the 2500 will fit in the 1500, without too much headache. After all, they are the same body.....
I have a 2005 reg cab dodge ram with the 3.7 and a automatic trans with the tow package, I want to swap to a 5.7 hemi will the trans I have work with the hemi or will I have to change? would it be a hard swap? thanks
the motor will bolt to the tranny. the only problem ull have is with the computer. find a 2500 with a hemi and a 5 speed. swap out every bit of wireing and get the pc then crank that *** up!
i have a 03 dodge 1500 3.7 V6 manual 2wd and i want to keep the stick but also have a 5.7 hemi is this possible?...
OK, Here Goes! I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with an automatic. It has less than 80,000Kms and the infamous poisen 4.7 threw-up all over the ground. The engine is trash. I want to swap the motor and transmission,(transfercase) with Chevy 350 engine and Chev transfer case. Who has done this and who has adaptors or knowledge about mating up the Chev drivetrain and shafts??
