It looks like Ford's going to offer an EcoBoost V6 option in the F-150 in late '09 or so. Rumors is it will offer potentially as much as 400 hp and 400 lb./ft. of torque. At the very least 340/340.
All things being equal: same price, same power...would you get the EcoBoost over the 5.4? It's supposed to get as much as 20 percent better fuel economy than the V8.
Your thoughts?

I don't know...that's a tough call. I love the sound of a V8, but with gas what it is now, I think I could get used to a boosted six if it delivered the goods as far as power.
Personally, I'm looking forward to when the turbodiesels start showing up in the half-tons. Those will be some nice trucks! Economical, and can tow a load!

Twin turbo for sure. Power can be bumped up with a simple tune.

Yeah, as nice as V8s sound, turbos are a lot easier to get more power out of. I think that's one of the reasons the diesel performance market has taken off like it has.
