I would go with a Gen-III or Gen-IV Chevy. They're a little more compact, and have lots of power potential. The only major problem you might run into is making all the electronics work together.

Blasifamy! Blasifamy! Why would you want to put a Chebbie engine in a DODGE? The Hemi makes as much if not more power than the Chebbie engines, and there won't be as many problems during the install. If you install a Chebbie, you will have to change the trans, driveshaft, all the electronics....of course, either way, you are going to have to upgrade the front suspension, since the load on the springs for a 4 cyl is half the load of a V8.....

Yeah, honestly, it might be easier in some ways to go with the Hemi, since Mopars have a unique electrical and engine management system. You'll probably still run into some issues, but possibly not as many with trying to put a Chevy engine in it.

Lets all remember that Dodge put a 5.9L in a factory Dakota and it fit. Just something else to think about.

Yeah, in the 2nd Gen models (or was it 3rd?). But I think externally, the 5.2 and 5.9 are the same size. When they did that styling re-fresh in the early 90s, do you consider that the "next-gen" Dakota, or just a face-lift? Just curious.
