I just bought a 08 chevy silerado with the 5.3l votec engine and i notice a noise i think is coming from the engine, perhaps a air noise of winding noise. When i first get going and reversing....normal? the best way to describe it is almost like how some diesel trucks sound but quieter...

i believe it happens when ac is on or off. Yes, whistlin type noise..

Sounds like a vacuum line is loose, or a bad gasket. Maybe somewhere around or after the throttle body.
