I am currently in the early stages of tubbing my 97 dakota to fit 335/30/ZR20 tires. In order to accomplish this, i've found that there are clearence problems with where the stock leaf springs are mounted (obviously). I've toyed with the idea of mounting straighter springs under the frame to allow the needed room without raising the truck (actually hoping for a 3/5 drop). I've also looked into 3 and 4 link suspensions but am not keen on the idea of using air bags. Is there such a system out there that uses coils instead of bags? Are leaf springs a better way to go? Am I completely insane for trying this? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
