How’s it going everyone? I’m new to this so forgive me if I make any rookie mistakes! LOL! But, yeah…my question is about lowering my ’03 Hummer H2. OK, Stop! I did say lower my H2. If this is not your cup of tea then do an “About, Face!” for everyone else lets keep on truckin’.
Moving right along. I’ve kept the suspension stock (w/ factory rear air suspension) for last three years but it’s time for a change. There is about a 6/8 gap with the factory suspension. The lowest drop I can find is a 3/5 kit from McGaughy’s which uses drop spindles and keys. DJM makes lower control arms that can drop the front of ’01-’06 Chevy 2500/3500 HD’s three inches but I’m not sure if it would be compatible with H2’s. So, the question is, drop spindles or, if compatible, drop control arms? Any thoughts or experiences with either? What about a combination of both, if possible, for a five to six inch drop in the front? How would the CV axles react to such a drop combo? I’d ‘bagg it but it’s my daily driver and I’m waiting for a bolt in kit to come along.
I plan on running 24’s (maybe 25’s) with nothing bigger than a 35 series tire. I need the ratio right so that the wheels look proportional to my ride. And while we are on the subject on wheels, can anyone tell me if driving on custom 8 lug to 6 lug hub adapters safe? Or any step down conversion for that matter? I’ve seen some in Truckin’ but they appeared to be trailer queens rather than daily drivers.
Anyone with experience please enlighten me. Thanks.

The McGaughy's suspension kit with its 3-inch front drop and 5-inch rear drop is going to be the deepest you can safely go. More drop could be had from the front but the 5 inches out back is going to tax the air suspension and your butt. There simply isn't much room under the rear of that H2 to do much else. Not to mention that the factory rear link suspension ends up at a silly angle at that much drop. A 315/35R24 tire measures in at nearly 32-3/4 inches which is only 2 inches shorter than the factory offered 17-inch stock wheels and tires. Getting a 3/4-ton 4x4/AWD down low is just a difficult proposition. As for the 8-lug to 6-lug adapters, you should leave those out of the equation. The wheel manufacturers have really stepped up to the plate with 8-lug offerings rendering the adapters unnecessary.

Big H,
You really know your stuff! Thanks for schooling me. I'll do the drop and wheels as soon as I get back to the States.

Ahh gees, Big H is at it again...I mean "good to have you back stud"! I think H2s look good lowered on 30s. You buy the wheels and then fill the Hummer up with good lookin' women. If you get enough in there, it will drop a little-
