I recently purchased a 97 suburban.I got a good deal on it!I know its not brand new. Anyway,I am looking to lower it some.I want a 3" drop I think, maybe a 4".I'm not sure. Its something I want to be able to do here at the house.Where can I get a pretty decent kit at? Also what about caster/camber?Do they make a kit for this(caster/camber)? Thanks for the replies and if you know where I can see some pics of the heights that would be nice too. I found a site with a pic of a suburban on it and I like the way it sits, but I am not sure what drop kit it has on it. It is gmtruckclub.com It is under new to suburbans(new to here). It is a 95 I think, but it looks pretty good.

Check out Belltech or McGaughy's. Belltech has two kits for your application, a 2/4 drop that uses coil springs in the front and leaf springs and shackles in the back, and a 4/7 kit that uses coil springs and a spindle in the front and a flip kit in the back. Either of those options should be fairly simple to install. McGaughy's has a hanger and shackle combo that will lower the rear 6 inches, and 2-inch springs and a 2-inch drop spindle to lower the front 4 inches. I didn't price them, but I'd think that the shackle and hanger option would be cheaper for the rear than new springs, but unless you have an air chisel to cut the rivets, removing the factory hanger is going to be a huge pain.

As for the camber and caster, you should have your truck aligned at a shop after any suspension modification. With either of these kits, any alignment shop should have no trouble getting them back into factory specs.

Yeah, if you're not looking to "lay frame" a flip kit or bolt-on lowering kit should work fine. A mild drop and some 20s or 22s would make that thing look sweet!

I have checked into the flip kit instalas far as through an internet search. It seems to be involved, not sure how involved.I do like the thing with hangers and shackles, but the hangers are riveted on,so like he said earlier,it could be a pain.Anyone live in Greenville,SC that would like to give a hand??LOL Anyways,I guess I will see,I have looked at a few different things, coils and spindles up front, and not sure about the back yet? Flip or shackles and hangers?? Just have to see

Not really looking to lay frame.I just want a lower center of gravity.I have had lowered trucks, bagged suvs, lifted jeeps and lowered hondas.I did like my truck the best though.I do think a bolt on kit would be a little easier for a drive way mech. though.Am I right ??

Oh yeah, by far! If you were going to do a full airbag setup, it requires cutting and welding the frame and all sorts of complex stuff. Doesn't look like they make a lowering kit, but Hotchkis has swaybars for a '97 Suburban. They make some really nice stuff, and they're very performance-oriented.

There are acutually a couple of companies that make the lowering kits for your '97 Suburban. As for the flip kit it is really simple!!!! just need a few common hand tools and with the flip kit you dont have to remove the gas tank!!! that is always a plus!!!!! I would def go with the flip in the rear and coils and spindles up front that will give you a 4/5 drop

Alright,I am going to do that then.I know the shackle/hanger setup,I was going to have to cut the old hangers off. That sounds like a pain.Spindles, are they pretty simple to install,no kind of press or anything of that nature needed, right? Sorry I ask so much.I just want to know what I am getting into,b/c help form freinds is scarce these days when it comes to work.
