GM just announced they would be selling "XFE" models of their Silverado and Sierra designed to get increased fuel economy. Now Ford has announced they're going to offer the '09 F-150 with an SFE fuel-saver option. The gains are about 1 mpg in city and highway driving. Do you think it's worth it to consider these models, or are they just a gimmick to take advantage of people's concerns over high fuel prices?

If you just do occasional light hauling, I guess these models are OK. I think what you're seeing happening in the marketplace right now are the "want" buyers for trucks starting to fall off, and the "need" buyers deciding whether or not they really need a pickup for their business. I know a lot of businesses are going to Dodge Sprinters. They're a little pricey, but they get great fuel economy.
