I purchased a 3:55 ring and pinion for my F350. I have called the dealers and asked about a shim kit to set up the new gear. No one knows about a shim kit. I guess shims are available but who know which ones are required? Ford dealers don't. Does anyone out there know what I need? Vetteracer

I would go to a transmission & axle specialist and have them set up the rear end. Definitely NOT something I'd suggest you do yourself unless you're experienced in it.
If you don't shim it and set it up properly, it could cause premature rear-end failure, and a lot of strange noises.
