2000 6.0 Chevy Engine

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500 with a 6.0L engine. It has over 360,000 miles on it and I need to replace it. I heard this engine was only made in 1999 and 2000 so I am having a hard time finding one. Is there another compatable engine and/or are there other vehicles that have the same engine. A buddy of mine says he found one in a junkyard that is in a Suburban or a Tahoe and he says it will fit my truck. Is that possible?

Yes a 6.0 from a Tahoe will work in your truck. Its the same Drive train.

Only thing you've got to look out for on some of the Vortecs is whether or not they're drive-by-wire or cable throttle. Other than that, should be pretty straightforward.
