I need some info on a 99 and later sportside bed swap on a 88-98 K1500

I have a 94 Chevy K1500 with a step side bed and a 4" lift. I'm wondering if anyone has done or knows if it is possible to swap a 99' and later sportside bed on to a 88-98' truck? and if so what mods need to be done to accomodate it.  What my plan is is to put a escalade front clip on it and a 99' or later bed. Any help that someone could offer would be a great help and if there are any pics of this swap could someone send me the link.  

I have not done it but I think it can be done. Try it, whatever will be the result, just post it.  
Chevy Silverado Tail Lights

I know the chassis on the GMT-800 trucks ('99-'06) are a little wider than than GMT-400 ('88-'98). But it should be doable with a little ingenuity and trial-and-error.
