Howdy...

Sending this out for my brother.  He has an 05 F350 6L Powerstroke with 110,000 miles on it.  His fuel pump and three injectors went bad.  Ford refuses to deal with it claiming they've "never paid for work on a vehicle over 100k miles."

His question:  Anybody get Ford to cough up money for work done on a truck with over 100k miles?  He's even willing to pay half.  The lady at Customer Service basically told him her decision was final and that no one would over turn her decision.  The repair facility said that's not true.

Anybody experience this?  Anybody had any luck with dealing with Ford on this or a similar issue?

He's runs a missionary outfit in Wyoming and uses the truck quite a bit on a daily basis.  He's also shy on funds and any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

Eric. I'd suggest checking out the Diesel Power forums at http://forums.dieselpowermag.com. You'll probably get a lot of info from those guys.

Long story short, the 6.0L Powerstroke is a nightmare Ford would probably rather forget. They spent millions in warranty claims on that engine, so I'm not surprised they're not especially willing to pay for the repair. However, if the failure is related to some kind of recall on that engine, then they should fix it. I don't know if there were any recalls on the '05 models, but I know there were several on the earlier 6.0s.

Thanks.

Next question.

Has anyone had Ford do any warranty work on any car/truck over 100k miles?

That seems to be the sticking point right now.

Thanks again for any help.

Ford is not legally obligated to cover any repairs that are beyond the expressed terms of the warranty. If the end of the powertrain coverage was 100,000 miles, that's where their obligation ends. If your odometer read 100,001, then you might have a case, but 10k miles over, I don't know.

Have you contacted the Ford zone rep in your area? If not, I'd try to get in touch with him. Your dealer should have his/her info. If you can make a case with the zone rep, sometimes you can have them agree to cover a repair that's outside or beyond the normal warranty term. If that still doesn't get you anywhere, if it's worth it to you, take your dealer or Ford to small-claims court in your area to see if you can get them to cover it. Good luck.

Thanks again eshanchez...

He has talked to the local zone rep.  She was not very helpful.  He's decided to take it higher to see what he can get.

Thanks again for all the info.
