I put my 2002 Ford Sport Trac on Parking and stepped on the gas pedal, when it reaches 3000 RPMs the Engine started to choke and shake, the RPM will not go over 3000. Someone told me that is the Crank Shaft position sensor.... Can someone please confirm this?

Is it only when it's in park, or will it not go over 3,000 rpm while driving?

I have a sport trac as well. from what i notice is that it is only in park and neutral etc or sitting still not while you are driving because I can get it to 6 or 7k rpm while I am on the road and accelerating in mine.

The ST will not go past 3K RPM when in park. It's the Rev Limiter.
