Hey i work for a fleet truck company and were kinda rebuilding this 1988 377 peterbilt, and heres the breakdown.
We want to customize it to make it look really nice and use it for a wrecker and a day hauler. (kinda as a spare truck)
Heres a couple things about it: Its completely torn down to the frame and i have already repainted the hole thing. were not going to put the sleeper back on so we modified the rear cab opening to be a window. Were going to build a headace rack and some boxes for tools and equipment for use as a wrecker, but we will not be putting a wrecker body on it, were just going to use one of those hooks that slides in the fifth wheel hitch.
so here is ware it get complicated.
We would like to put dual air cleaners in it cuz it only has one on the pass side. however we have 2 other truck here (same model) that came with dual air cleaners, so im wondering if i can just cut the hole in the cab and firewall and put in the nutserts to mount another air cleaner on. i figured there would be an aftermarket kit out ther for doing this and im pretty good on the internet but so far turned up nothing. Were gonna put dual exhause stacks but thats easy we got that taken car of. Now for the interior. Really thers alot of broken plastic parts on the inside of the truck, and the dash is old and busted, so i was kinda hopen in could find a complete rebiuld kit for the interior of one of these trucks. (like an aftermarket package) cuz the door panels are bad the steering wheel is torn... basically it all needs some tlc so a master package for the interior would be great. i just havent been able to find anything like this. So if there is suck a thing or anyone has any information for me please let me know.
Im new to customizing trucks, but definatly not to cuztomizing all sorts of automotive and marine vehicles... so im hoping to get some direction on whats available to me.
thankyou
-Zach

Zach, I suggest you visit our sister site's forum, Diesel Power and post your query. There are some big-rig enthusiasts on there, and they might be able to give you better insights and tips. The "Heavy Iron" forum is specifically dedicated to the larger trucks. Hope this helps. Your username and password should also work on the Diesel Power forum.
