Vans are hard to find new these days! Full sized Fords are only available in white or thru fleet dealers and Chevy full sized are harder to find. The only other alternative is the HHR Panels (including the awesome "SS" version) but what about next year with GM (Gov't Motors) bankruptcy will there still be HHR's let alone the "SS" version. To hedge against the future not having one I broke down last week and bought this:
I seems to be a great ride. I'd love to see truckin' do a build up on one for vanners.....

The HHR Panel would make a very cool build. The good people at Pteazer.com in Santa Ana would be more than happy to assist with this.

Cool! You probably heard by now they're going to discontinue the SS panel. So you bought one just in the nick of time! Keep us updated on the upgrades!

I know Ed, it was hard I just got over being laid off for 7 months and blowing the engine outta my Astro all over the Interstate, the 2nd day on a new job. I bought one of the 2 "SS" Panels left in the country not red or black. Somewhere in Texas there is reportedly a "SS" panel in blue flash but I could never find it. Anyway this one's got the subwoofer speaker system and the USB capable audio system.

Why is it the coolest GM cars are the hardest to find and the first ones to get killed off?

A vanner from Ohio showed up at Vanfest this past weekend in this SS. If GM is dropping the SS package the folks at PTeazer may actually be able to do better. After all they shoe horned a Hemi into one of their PT Panel conversions.
If the HHR idea doesn't work, maybe talk to Freiburger or Kinnan over at your sister publication Hot Rod. They had a Mid Chevy van lined up for a project a while back, they may still have it.

Speaking of the PT, I heard it's going to soldier on through the end of 2010, when they find some Fiat model to build down in the Toluca plant.

I think this is one of the greatest new vehicles to come out in todays American auto market. I would have said the same about the Pontiac G8 ST, but we know what happened there.

Yeah. I was really pumped about the G8 ST, but they pulled the plug on it before it even launched. And Fritz has put the kibosh on any future G8 variants.
