So I have my dads 1985 chevrolet silverado 4x4 3/4 ton pickup. I wanted to fix her up for pulling but she is pretty far down on the project truck priority list. So i was thinking about selling it to someone who could do what i wish i could do. But im running into problems. the truck has 103k on it and my dad baught it off the lot brand new. so hes the only one whos owned it and was used as a farm truck. It sat for 3 years in the barn yard till i decided to take her home. The truck runs and sounds great. Ive done some ameture body work on the truck to stop the rust and its looks better. the frame has some rust but nothing structuraly wrong with the frame. could benefit some reinforcement though. interior is in great condition but the brake lines rotted out from sitting so long. So I want to know what this baby is worth so I dont end up selling it to the wrong person for the wrong price. I love this truck, i was raised in it but it needs more work than the other trucks so i must give her up. please help.

I would have to make a rough guess around $2000-3000. it is a bit of a wide range but without looking at it. Having only 103K on it i would think you could get closer to 3 for it. Its hard to say. I am from Canada. (don't hold it against me I dont hold it against you that you're not!) this is what i would expect to get for a truck like this in canadian dollars mind you. If the body is in really bad shape i would say probably closer to the $2-2500 mark. It is a 4x4 so it should bring in some extra cash.

Being that I'm in the used truck market right now I have looked at literally thousands of trucks for sale over the last 2 months. $2K is too much for a 24-year-old truck with rust, busted brake lines, and a farm history. You mentioned it runs great, that is the selling point. Go out, buy and install new brake lines, get it stopping good so someone can actually test drive it and feel the solid engine and then ask $1,500. That way when they counter with $1,200 you can let it go and stuff 12 bills in your pocket. Keep in mind that whereas it does have sentimental value, when it comes to dollars, that's not worth .02 Sell it, take the money, and go to work on one of your other rides.
