I would like to swap the engine out and install a new crate 5.3 People are telling me its a wast of money and i better off geting a new truck. Is this going to be possible? or should i go with a new 4.8.

When all is said & done, you probably are better off just buying a new truck. First of all, I'd look at what the trade-in value is on your truck. A new crate motor or even a re-build will probably run you $6-8k US when all is said & done.
But...if you're really attached to your current truck, and want a new engine, it might be worth it...just not in objective terms.

if you love your truck and want to keep it then do an engine swap. look for a used engine out of a write off if you want to save some bucks.

I have the same truck but widebed, and an automatic. Look to see if u can use the same tranny, I have a 4L60e and can use it. U might look a getting a complete engine with wire harness, ecm, a/c, lines, alternator and a/c accumulater, because they are different. I am looking @ doing the same thing to my truck.
