such a cool van. That engine barely fits in there too. Look at how close the driver side valve cover is to the doghouse.

I just looked at the story and the first thing that stood out was the year 1960 is wrong. Otherwise great story. I put the same motor 347 stroker in my 66 Econoline, Vanishing Breed. Pretty much filled the doghouse.

Mike, there was no specific model year mentioned in the story, other than for some of the components used in the buildup. The staff that prepare the stories for the website only have that information to go by. If anyone knows the specific model year, we can try and fix it. Thanks.

It is listed in the header::
1960 Ford Econoline Van - Alpine Express

I am not sure of the actual year but I think it is a 65. They did not make Econolines in 1960

Mike...yes, I know the header says "1960" but what I'm saying is there's no specific reference to a model year in the feature other than a vague "1960s" reference, which is probably what the web producer went by when assigning a model year to the story. If anyone has any definitive information on the model year of Alpine Express, I'll try to get it corrected as soon as possible. Thanks.

**UPDATE!!**
I found a post on Showtrux that says it's a '67. I will update the info ASAP.

Alpine is an AWESOME van. Congrats to Gary!

It is so nice to see vans in Truckin again.

This is one of my favorite shots of Alpine, shot by ME.

If I remember right he got them at a truck stop. The red bulbs can be bought at any auto parts store.

Very happy to see Alpine grace the pages of Truckin' and be featured prominently on the website here. Gary has done a lot for vanning at the van events in both the U.S and Canada and also in getting Alpine out to many non van events like the Ford show at Carlisle every year, the Woodward Cruise, Power Tour, the indoor shows in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and here is my favorite recent shot of it at the 2009 Detroit Autorama:
