A feature on an early is coming up very soon. It is Garys "Alpine Express" Econoline.

I am going to post my 2 cents here for lack of a better place.  Vans are back.  Vans are hot.  Why?  Because they are new again.  Whats next in the truck scene that we haven't already seen 100 times over?  Thats where vans come in.  Something differnt and cool.

Not really new just being noticed more. More and more young people are buying vans due to the relatively cheap prices and due to their versatility. I was at Lowes a few days ago and there were two early (1961-1967) Ford Econolines in the lot besides mine and a couple of young guys ask each of us if we would sell our vans. One wanted to trade a restored 1964 Mercury Comet for a van. At car shows our vans draw much larger crowds than any 10 cars or trucks. People walk right past cars that cost over $100,000.00 to build to look at a $5,000.00 van. Vanishing Breed stole the show everywhere it went. TV commercials are using old vans more and more which admittedly has helped fuel the renewed interests in vans.

I don't know about back, mine never left I've had mine since I bought it new in 83. For me it was about having something different yet useful. I've carried many things in it, camped in many places in it. My kids grew up in that van, and for me it became a part of me. If people see my van they know I can't be far behind. I pull my classic boat with it also, and to tell you the truth, I don't really like most other new vehicles I see out there. It's dependable and can take a beating even though I don't hit it as hard as I used to! I have some pics on this site under readers rides, take a look.
Thanks, ArnieB
