I have looked high and low for specs on a 350 Chevy small block trying to find out what compression SHOULD BE. I can find 1000s of article on how to do a compression test and they all talk about balance (one lung not being more than 10% than another) but no where can I find what compression on a healthy engine should be or at what point to rebuild.
Anyone know where I might find this information or even some sort of chart that shows how much power loss there is for say every 10 PSI of loss? Example, if the engine was rated at 260 HP when it was new and had say 175 PSI across all lungs, what does that engine produce 5 years later with comnpression down to say 140 PSI?
I haven't been able to find anything like this...

Maybe in a Chilton's repair manual? How many miles on the engine you're talking about? If it's under 100,000, and it's been well-maintained, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I did find this article on Chevy High Performance that might shed some light on things.
