i have a 1997 dodge 1500 and i wanna repaint it myself. i have a decent paintgun. is there anything i should no about for preping the body for paint?

Take your time. Make sure you do a really good job scuffing, and tapeing. If you mess up this step it can make your paint job look really sloppy. Also stay away from white, hardest colour to paint, in my opinion.
