Hey Guys. I just posted this blog and would love to get your thoughts & feedback on what you would do to differentiate GMC and make it truly "professional grade."

Well for starters, I would ask them to go back to the drawing board and build a real truck. I used to own a 1998 GMC and that was a truck. In 2007, I bought one of the fist new style Sierras in town. I have found it to be great on fuel and comfortable to drive, but about as tough as a Budwiser can. I have twice just touhed the front and rear bumpers to postes and in both cases they were damaged. The front bumper was dented and the rear one twisted. I was recently backing out of a parking spot and bumped a car that was sitting behind me I could not see. It was a 1996 Ford Escort. It had minor door damage. My tough GMC Sierra "profession grade" big bad 4x4 cratered. The accident totaled the pass side rear bumper and completely cratered the quater panel. Damage is estimated at $3000.00. I was travelling at an all time high speed of less than 1 mile per hour. The bumpers on the new gm trucks are actually chrome trim with no bumper capabilities whatsoever. If you watch around town as you are out and about, you will notice all kinds of New Style Chevy and GMC trucks with the bumpers already showing minor damage. That is because thay cannot withstand an impact or any contact any better and a fender or quater panel. IT IS A HUGE JOKE that GM would build such a beast! I am very dissapointed. If I could add a picture here I would. But next time you are on the street, take note of all the damaged GM bumpers out there. It is a real problem.

I wonder how much of that is due to "pedestrian safety" regulations? I know it's more of a big deal in Europe, but I know for a while, there was a lot of discussion about bumper height in trucks & SUVs. Yeah, I've noticed kind of flimsy construction especially on the front-end of trucks for a while now. A lot of it seems to be extra "crush space" for safety. This is probably one of the best visual examples I can think of:

Granted, that's the V6 model. Can't do that with the V8.
