The 5.9 is the closest relative to the 5.2. Hemi is a totally different engine, and will probably be a little more complicated to do a swap with that (mostly due to electronics), especially considering it never came with a manual trans in the trucks (although you can get the 5.7 and 6.1 in the Challenger with a 6-speed stick).

Honestly, there's probably enough un-tapped potential in your 5.2 to do some upgrades to it that will give you as good or better performance that you'd get with a 5.9 (360) or even a stock Hemi. I'd consider upgrading to some higher-flow aluminum heads, a slightly hotter cam, and some headers. Those mods, along with a re-flashed computer, will probably get you over 300 horsepower and about 330-350 lb./ft. of torque.

Thanks...

I put headers on six months after I bought it in 95.

Catback system too..(borla)
K&N air filter

I was just reading on how to reset the PCM, after you put headers on.
I never knew anything about this, so have been running as is for years..
But will not run on any gas other than 91 octane...Pings with anything less.
I'm allso at 6400 ft. elevation.
Should I reset the PCM. ?
thanks

Honestly, I don't have enough experience with this engine to give you any specific advice, but sounds like you might want to have it professionally tuned. If it's still pinging with high-octane at high altitude, sounds like your timing might be off a little.

the 5.2 will make equal or more pony than even the 5.9 if you make it breathe right.  get a good balance of flow and backpressure and a roller valve train and it will suprise you.  no idea about pinging, that sounds like a pcm issue, my truck has never pinged and i run regular, only run prem once in a while as its not terribly common where i live.
