I don't know if I fully understand your question. Other than the added weight of the four-wheel-drive system, there shouldn't be any major performance penalty for 4WD. Besides which, the engines should be the same between 2WD and 4WD models. Intake, exhaust, plug-in programmer would be good places to start for some easy power gains.

thanks, well the problem was that there were no v8 trucks that werent 4wd. i would never use it and i also am going to lower my truck alone with other things. So 4wd wasnt right for me. I got a new flowmaster exhaust i didnt notice any gains. I been looking at programmers but dont really know what i am looking at

Did they do an area inventory search to see if they could find you a 2WD V8? Or did you want to buy then & there?
Well, how far do you want to go in tuning your truck? Do you just want an easy plug & play upgrade, or do you want to really go nuts?

yea they did I got it when they were pushing out the 09 for the 2010 models so /nobody close had them. i went to several dealers and couldnt find one. I have a V8 from my other truck but its a 03 dont know if that would be the right direction. I want it done the right way and i want to get the most for my money. I dont want to waste my time or money on stuff that makes changes i cant notice.

I guess I got the last one lol I bought a 09 about 7 mounths ago.. single cab short bed 2wd v8 to pull the trailer with. But dont ask me about adding power to one Im just a suspension guy...I guess that prob why that 09 has 11,000 miles on it and still hasnt had its first oil change, I should get on that soon

Well, it's safe to say it's a little more complicated to lower a 4WD than a 2WD. If you really were planning on lowering it, I probably would have held out and shopped around for a 2WD. As it is, you're going to have your work cut out for you lowering it. The only example I've seen up-close is an AWD Silverado SS that was lowered.
