Can anyone tell me why the fuel pump keeps burning out in my 2000 chevy 1500? Have replaced 2 in 2 years and now last week it happened again!
Hard to say really, it could be the fuel you're using, if you are constantly running your truck low on fuel that can burn them out aswell. If you're buying aftermarket ones they may not be as good as an oem one.
You should check your voltage going to the pump itself. See if too much current is getting to the pump or if there's a short in the system. Cheap aftermarket pumps can and will fail. It's a matter of time. If it's an external pump, check the location to avoid any heat sources nearby. First off though, check all your grounds. Mainly the vehicle body to the frame grounding strap. I had a buddy with electric gremlins until he found a broken ground strap. Then he was all good.
